Polar Plunge

I participated in the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Oregon in Feb. Brrrrrr! it was not as bad as it could have been, because it was a sunny, and non-windy day.

Some fast facts:
water temp - 42 degress F
# of other idiots like me - 300+
Dollar raised for Special Olympics Oregon - $37,000.00

I do not have any photos to share just yet, but you can
follow the links, to the Special Olympics Oregon Polar Plunge website.and directions below, and you will see the three photos with me in them. I am wearing an orange Oregon State t-shirt.
It may a few clicks to get there, and you know how it goes, if you get one click wrong, no telling where you will end up.

"basketball, shoot"

"Basketball, shoot" is how Daniel describes his Special Olympics Skills games, and his pronunciation of "shoot" sounds more like "cute." Either way, he loves participating.

Daniel is in the spotlight here, but I will give an update on the others in a separate blog post.

Thanks and take care all,

Pat Hazleton

Bragging on the Family

Once again, my kids are giving me opportunity to be proud!

Sarah entered two photos in the Benton County Fair, 4H photo contest, and won champion for both. (I will attempt to attach the photos at a later date). Thank you also to the Make a Wish organization that gave her so much of her camera equipment while she was going through her treatments (two and half) years ago. Sarah has also photographed a number of weddings, as either an assistant or the primary photographer.

Robert played on a Junior Baseball Organization (JBO) team this Summer. The team took second place in their division, then went on to take third place in the State tournament. See related link below.

Robert plays shortstop, third base, and pitcher. And, carrying on a Hazleton tradition started by my brothers, he even plays catcher now and then.

Speaking of brothers, I also am very proud of my oldest brother, Bob. He recently published his first book, Dads Matter. For Bob, working with "troubled" teens has been his passion for many years. I am very excited he is able to present his experiences and beliefs to a broader audience.

To learn more about the book, you can go to his website, and the book is available on Amazon.com. http://www.bobhazleton.com
